Self-evacuation / casualty rescue system for use in wind turbines
This basic system is designed for escape, evacuation and simple rescues. At the core of the system is the Rotor constant rate descender (CRD), an intuitive device which allows 2 person escape / self-evacuation with automatic descent speed control. The Rotor can be used in any orientation and has no external moving parts, reducing the risk of entanglement. The Rotor is fully bi-directional meaning that repeated descents can be carried out in quick succession. The maximum descent height is 500m for 200kg or 220m for 250kg. For simple rescues, the Rotor can also lift a casualty, using the ratchet handle supplied. With the locking mechanism engaged, the load is held if the handle is released, and progress capture is automatic. Kit includes rescue descender with raising function, detachable ratchet handle for lifting, rope, karabiners, anchor strop and transportation / storage bag The Rotor can change from lift to lower (and vice versa) at any point whilst under load. Rated lift load 140kg, Maximum lift load as part of conformity assessment is 210kg. To simplify the inspection process and provide optimal storage conditions a ProSeal option is also available for this kit.
